A marine globe valve is a linear-motion valve designed for precise flow regulation in shipboard piping systems. Unlike simple on/off valves (e.g., gate valves), it allows fine-tuned throttling of liquids/gases (e.g., seawater, fuel, steam) while maintaining reliable shutoff.
Key Features of Marine Globe Valves
1. Design & Working Principle
- Spherical body with an internal baffle (partition) forcing flow to change direction, increasing resistance for better control.
- Movable disc/plug presses against a stationary seat to regulate flow (screwed via a handwheel or actuator).
- Stem operation: Raises/lowers the disc linearly (unlike rotary ball/gate valves).

- Accurate flow adjustment: Critical for cooling systems, fuel dosing, or steam lines.
